This is the answer. The piano soft close mechanism. Instructions are very simple. The small piece of tape underneath the mechanism comes off and you stick it to the side wood piece (cheek block) of the piano and PRESTO! its all done.
The hydraulic mechanism will slow the lid down to stop it from slamming and making that loud bang.
